CALL 150, 2023

Solo exhibition at Rindö Redutt, Vaxholm, Sweden

The exhibition begins with a sound installation by the bridge leading over to the site. Recordings from the nature surroundings have been mixed into a brooding soundscape echoing from the cracked mountain.

A collection of sonic sculptures and artifacts are presented in the gallery,
each object witht its individual sound and together creating one unison chant. The culmination of sounds is the same as presented by the bridge.

The works came together during the art residency Air BKN, Björkö and in the surroundings of Rindö Fortification.

Sound mix and video documention: Michael Bucuzzo

Have you ever become friendly with a butterfly? One fell asleep on our cap in Vienna. She stayed with us as we wandered around, in and out of bars, following rabbits and streetlamps through the night. When she woke up, she blinked at us slowly for quite a long while, unfurling and recomposing herself repeatedly, deliciously, until she was sure we were properly attentive. Which do you wonder first: what they’re doing to you? Or what you’re doing to them? Maybe you’re one to split the difference instead. “What’s a transmitter without a receiver?” you’re asking yourself. A parallel world, that’s what. They are waiting, we are waiting, for that agency we sense but don’t fully comprehend.

TUNING ROOM, 2024

Lecture performance, Michael Bucuzzo
Role: Writer
IDFA - DocLab Spotlight & IDFA on Stage (2023)
Eye Conference (2024)

Tuning Room is a mixture of sound performance, artist talk and film screening – presenting our growing media archives as a kind of materialist spirit world. Through spoken text developed by artist and collaborator Klara Waara, the filmmaker charts a diaristic journey through the media that has ‘possessed’ him, and by way of live sound, invites the audience to conjure their own links between media and memory.
